Action on Elder Abuse

Action on Elder Abuse recognises how difficult it can be for some people to believe that they are witnessing or experiencing abuse, and how equally difficult it can for people to escape what is happening to them. Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC) is a national charity that aims to help older people make informed choices about meeting their housing and care needs.

Contact the Elderly is a national charity, which tackles acute loneliness among isolated older people, aged 75 and above, by organising free monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for small groups of elderly people in local communities across England, Scotland and Wales. The tea parties are supported by a network of volunteers: one Sunday a month each older guest is collected from their home by a volunteer driver and taken to the home of a volunteer host, where they join a small group for tea, chat and companionship.

Royal Voluntary Service 

RVS is a charity that provides personal, practical support to older people which helps them stay happy, healthy and independent in their own homes. Services such as good neighbours, befriending, home from hospital, community transport and meals on wheels help alleviate the loneliness that can set in when getting out and about is difficult.

The Silver Line

The Silver Line is the confidential, free helpline for older people across the UK open every day and night of the year. Our specially trained helpline staff offer information, friendship and advice, link callers to local groups and services, offer regular befriending calls and protect and support those who are suffering abuse and neglect. If callers would like to be put in touch with Silver Line Friends, they can receive a regular weekly friendship call or email. Or they may like to join a Silver Circle and take part in a regular group call on subjects that interest them.
